On Wednesday evening, the Rapid Action Battalion detained Dhallywood actress Pori Moni, along with a ‘large amount of drugs,’ from her residence in Banani, the capital.
A unit from the special force’s Intelligence Unit apprehended her during a drive at her home that began at 4 p.m. in the presence of a magistrate from the mobile court.
“A big amount of narcotics have been uncovered at Pori Moni’s residence, and she has been brought into custody,” a top intelligence official stated.
RAB has detained the actress, whose real name is Samsunnahar Smriti, after recovering 30 bottles of imported liquor from her home.
According to the force’s Legal and Media Wing Assistant Director ANM Imran Khan, the operation was carried out by a RAB squad based on specific claims against her.
Around 4 p.m., the raid began, and several individuals gathered in front of Banani’s Lake View home. The Banani society authorities have used megaphones to make statements urging people not to swarm the area because to the potential of Covid-19 spreading.
Lt Col Khairul Islam, the head of Rab’s intelligence arm, was spotted entering the house premise with many plain-clothed DB personnel, according to witnesses.
Pori, on the other hand, said in a Facebook live video from her verified profile that numerous individuals arrived to her house and forced their way in. She stated they could be robbers and that she had reported them to the authorities multiple times but that they had yet to come to her aid.
RAB later stated that an elite group was dispatched to perform a raid.
According to RAB sources, they have begun searching the house and Pori Moni may be detained following the operation.
Since making claims of attempted rape and murder against a Dhaka businessman, Pori Moni has been in the spotlight.
