Bangladesh will take on Australia in the first game of the five-match T20 series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium tomorrow (Tuesday).
The game will be broadcast live on Gazi TV and T Sports and will begin at 6 p.m. Bangladesh will play Australia for the first time in T20 cricket since 2016.
Bangladesh has played the least number of Test matches against Australia, which is the only country to have done so. Bangladesh promised to make this series memorable by defeating Australia, despite the fact that the team only gets to face Australia once a year.
After four matches, Bangladesh, on the other hand, is yet to win a match against Australia in this format. Nonetheless, they are optimistic about their chances, owing to the fact that they will be playing in their own conditions and that Australia would be without key players such as David Warner, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, and Aaron Finch.
In the five-match T20 series against the West Indies, Australia appeared weak without those stars, losing 4-1.
Bangladesh is flying high after completing a hat-trick of series victories in Zimbabwe, while Australia is short on confidence. They won the one-off Test before sweeping the three-match ODI series and then swept the three-match T20 series by a margin of 2-1.
Bangladesh will use the series against Australia as a warm-up for the T20 World Cup.
Bangladesh’s T20I squad: Mahmudullah Riyad (Captain), Naim Sheikh, Shakib Al Hasan, Soumya Sarker, Afif Hossain, Shamim Hossain Patwari, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Nasum Ahmed, Sheikh Mahedi Hasan, Rubel Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Mohammad Mithun, Taijul Islam and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat.
