Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, has congratulated Sher Bahadur Deuba, the recently appointed Prime Minister of Nepal’s Federal Democratic Republic.
“Your return to the highest office for the fifth time, as well as the overwhelming support granted to you by the Parliament of Nepal on July 18, is a testament to the people and political leadership of Nepal’s trust and confidence in your leadership,” Sheikh Hasina said in a statement on Thursday.
“As close neighbors, Bangladesh and Nepal have good bilateral connections based on various shared interests and linkages,” she said.
The prime minister underlined her strong belief that, under Mr Deuba’s capable leadership, Bangladesh and Nepal’s existing multifaceted cooperation will be deepened even further by exploring untapped prospects in prospective areas of partnership.
She recalled with fondness the recent state visit to Bangladesh by Nepalese President Devi Bhandari, which brought immeasurable value to our commemorations of the birth centenary of Bangladesh’s Father of the Nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence.
Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina stated, is on its road to realizing the Father of the Nation’s ideal of “Sonar Bangla” by becoming a developing economy by 2021 and a developed economy by 2041.
