Shakib al Hasan passed Mashrafe bin Mortaza as Bangladesh’s all-time leading wicket-taker in one-day international cricket when he dismissed Zimbabwe skipper Brendan Taylor in the opening ODI at Harare Sports Club yesterday.
With five wickets in the first ODI against Zimbabwe, Shakib has 274 wickets from 213 games, while Mashrafe has 269 wickets from 218 games.
Mashrafe is still active in one-day international cricket, having last played in March 2020.

Shakib’s record will not be broken anytime soon, as Mashrafe has minimal chance of returning to the ODI team.
Abdur Razzak is third on the list with 207 wickets, and Rubel Hossain is fourth with 129 scalps.
