Mushfiqur Rahim, the wicket-keeper batsman for Bangladesh, has elected to play in the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe.
The experienced cricketer’s change of heart was prompted by the fact that he would be unable to join the national side for the Australia series. The team is already in a bio-bubble during their tour of Zimbabwe, and this will continue when they arrive in Dhaka, with only a few days between the two series.
On July 29, Australia will arrive in Dhaka for a five-match T20I series, the same day Bangladesh will return from Zimbabwe. Both teams will enter the bio-bubble immediately.
Minhajul Abedin, the head of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s national selection panel, revealed the news to the media on Tuesday.
Mushfiq has decided not to play the T20I series ahead of the Zimbabwe tour in order to have a rest. The wicket-keeper batsman had made himself eligible for selection for the tour’s Test and One-Day International matches.
