Mushfiqur ruled out of DPL with finger injury

Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim was ruled out of the remaining matches of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) super league phase after sustaining an injury on his finger.

The injury also put his Zimbabwe tour in doubt as his condition will be assessed after one week. Bangladesh will leave the country for Zimbabwe on June 28 or 29 for one Test, three ODIs and as many T20Is.

Mushfiqur, the captain of Abahani Limited, sustained this injury during his side’s game against Gazi Group Cricketers on Monday. Abahani achieved a hard-fought one-wicket victory in the match to keep their hope of retaining the championship title alive; Mushfiqur was hurt on his index finger of the left hand.

He was sent for CT scan and a hairline fracture was found, according to Dr Debashis Chowdhury, the chief physician of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) medical team.

“A CT scan on his index finger of the left hand was done this morning and a small hairline fracture was seen on the injured place,” Dr. Chowdhury said here today.
“We told him (Mushfiqur) to take rest for one week for the time being. After a week, we’ll assess his condition. Since this is a hairline fracture, we hope he will not take a long time to recover,” he added.

Dr. Chowdhury however refused to make any comment on whether Mushfiqur would recover ahead of the Zimbabwe tour.

“We’ll review his injury after a week and then we can take the next course of action.”

Mushfiqur who played some match winning innings for Abahani in the ongoing league, scored 267 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 130.24. His highest scorer was 57 not out.
