The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has rested head coach Chris Silverwood. He will rest for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Silverwood will be on leave in these two series under the board’s ‘Rest and Rotation’ policy. He has been rested to keep him mentally fit.
Former England cricketers Paul Collingwood and Graham Thorpe will work in Silverwood’s absence in these two series. However, the ECB has not yet confirmed who will head the series.
“We need to keep ourselves fresh,” Silverwood said of his vacation. If I can’t give my 100 percent, it will be unfair to the players. It won’t be good for me either. ‘
Meanwhile, Joe Root will get the coach in Tests and T20s even though Pakistan is on leave for the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
England will visit Pakistan and Bangladesh next October. The English are giving extra importance to these two series keeping in view the upcoming T20 World Cup.
