Bangladesh join in the Chinese-led alliance to get vaccine

Bangladesh is joining the new platform ‘Emergency Vaccine Storage Facility for COVID for South Asia’, an initiative of China with 6 countries on an emergency basis to get coronavirus vaccine. At the same time, Bangladesh is proposing to set up archives near any seaport for medical assistance including corona vaccine and oxygen.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen made the remarks after a meeting with the foreign ministers of six South Asian countries on Tuesday (April 26th) at noon.

He said they would take advantage of this facility when a country needed a vaccine. Moreover, they will give three benefits. One being the post-Covidien probability complaint. Second, they want to know about the growing poverty in the country due to Corona. And he wants to work so that poverty does not increase.

Third, they want to launch e-commerce because they can’t sell directly to Corona.

The foreign minister said the six countries had emphasized that one country would help and co-operate with another during the Corona period. Everything that needs to be done for the welfare of Bangladesh will be done.

Meanwhile, the foreign minister said, Bangladesh is not sitting on the nose of any country. Vaccines will be brought from Russia, America, China, and any other country to prevent corona. Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen said the vaccine would be available in the next two weeks.

From the beginning, Bangladesh was dependent on neighboring India for the corona vaccine. Last November, a tripartite agreement was reached to bring in 30 million doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine. Beximco Pharma started supplying this vaccine to Bangladesh from the Seram Institute of India. 5 million doses were supposed to come every month.

So far, 13 million doses of vaccine have arrived in the country with the gift of 20 lakh doses from the Government of India. However, in India, the situation has worsened and the vaccine has stopped coming. Faced with uncertainty, the corona vaccine application in Bangladesh.
