Russia is set to expel 10 US diplomats in retaliation for US sanctions. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made the announcement in a statement on Friday.
He said US Ambassador to Moscow John Sullivan had been summoned. Six other U.S. administration officials are on the list of possible sanctions. There have also been calls for restrictions on the activities of US NGOs interfering in Russian politics.
US President Joe Biden on Thursday imposed sanctions on Russia over cyberattacks, election interference, and threats to Ukraine. That list includes 16 top Russian officials and an equal number of organizations.
