ICC President election to held on next December

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to elect a new president next December.

The ICC confirmed the information in a statement on Monday. They said, ‘The process of electing the next president is underway and a new president will be available in early December. The process of electing a new chairman is being overseen by an independent chairman of the audit committee.

The ICC’s constitution states that a potential candidate must be a former or current ICC board director in order to be a candidate for the chairman of the body. Nominations have to be confirmed by October 18.

Shashank Manohar stepped down as ICC president on July 1 after two consecutive terms in the coronavirus. Then Imran Khawaja got the interim responsibility of this regulatory body.

Manohar was elected in May 2016. He was elected the first independent president in the history of the ICC.
