Foreign investment in Bangladesh decreased by 36%

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Bangladesh has declined alarmingly due to the coronavirus epidemic. Its amount is 36 percent. Bangladesh Bank has recently released the data of foreign investment for the fiscal year 2019-20 which ended on June 30.

Bangladesh Bank’s foreign investment data shows that in the last financial year, FDI 3.15 billion came.

In its previous financial year (2018-19) it came to 4.94 billion dollars. As a result, foreign investment in the country has decreased by 36.17 percent in one year.

Economists and business-entrepreneurs in the country think that this picture will not change in the coming days as the epidemic is still going on.

They say that if the foreign investment does not increase, the domestic investment will not increase, as a result of which the economy will become more fragile due to the epidemic.
