The floodwaters will increase till July 25 and decrease from the next day. State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief, Enamur Rahman said. He was speaking at the signing ceremony of a rescue ship construction contract at the Secretariat.
The state minister said floodwaters have entered 25 districts of the country. Relief activities have started among the victims. He also announced that 25 people have died in the floodwaters so far.
At noon, the Ministry of Disaster Management signed an agreement with the Navy to build a multipurpose rescue boat to conduct rescue operations in the flood-prone district.
Tk 27 crore has been allocated for the construction of 60 boats. In the first phase, 20 boats will be built. The construction cost of each is 45 lakh rupees. These 20 rescue boats will be available before the next flood season.
