Former Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim completed his 15th year in international cricket. On 26 May 2005, Mushfiqur made his debut for Bangladesh against hosts England at the historic Lord’s.
That was a test match. He took the bat at number six. Mushfiqur made 19 off 57 balls with 3 fours in the first innings and 3 off 9 balls in the second innings. Mushfiqur did not have to play as a wicketkeeper. Because former captain and experienced wicketkeeper Khaled Masood was in the team then. In Mushfiqur’s debut match, Bangladesh lost the match by an innings and 261 runs.
Mushfiqur made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in Harare in August of the same year and his T20 debut in Khulna in November. With the passage of time, Mushfiqur became an essential player of the team. He has also led Bangladesh in all three formats. Mushfiqur holds the record for leading the country in 34 Tests.
In his 15-year cricket career, he has scored 7 centuries and 21 half-centuries in 70 Tests and made 4413 runs. He made 6174 runs in 218 ODIs with 7 centuries and 38 half-centuries. In T20 formate Mushfiqur has scored 1282 runs in 5 half-centuries in 86 T20s. Mushfiqur scored his first double century for the country in Tests.
