Former Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim has given financial assistance to 50 wheelchair cricketers of the country during this difficult time of coronavirus. National wheelchair cricket team captain Mohammad Mohsin confirmed the news today.
“Mushfiqur Rahim has contributed financial support to 50 of us who have played international matches and are with the national team,” Mohsin said. “Wheelchair cricketers from several parts of the country are receiving this financial support. We will make arrangements to send money to the players through mobile banking,” he added.
Mohsin is happy with Mushfiqur’s help. “It’s good news for us, players like Mushfiqur have come to our aid,” he stated.
Mushfiqur has been cooperating with the helpless since the start of coronavirus infection in the country. Together with other players, Mushfiqur helped raise half of a month’s salary to raise funds for the Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh (COAB).
Mushfiqur has sent 200 PPEs and hand sanitizers for the health workers of his district Bogra Medical College. He also provided financial assistance to the needy in collaboration with the local councilors in Bogra. Mushfiqur has also assisted 30 net bowlers of the cricket board.
Mushfiqur auctioned the bat he used to reach the first double-century for Bangladesh in the Tests. The bat, which was sold for Tk 17 lakh, will help those affected by a coronavirus, he said. Shahid Afridi Foundation purchased the bat in the auction.
