The government of Bangladesh has decided to continue the suspension of public transport services in the whole country until May 5 as the general holidays extended for the fourth time on Thursday aiming to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, during the holiday and transportation suspension, all kind of emergency utility services, the movement of all food and goods-carrying vehicles on roads and water vessels on river routes, transportation of government projects’ goods, energy, medicine, medical pieces of equipment, baby food, agricultural products, industrial goods, fertilizers, insecticides, animal fodder, fisheries and livestock products, dairy products and daily essentials, vehicles carrying relief goods and newspapers and pharmaceuticals industry will remain out of the purview of the shutdown, said an official press release.
But, the goods-carrying vehicles or ships will not be allowed to carry any kind of passengers with them, a press release said.
