Indian actor Santu Mukherjee who worked in Bengali cinema has passed away today at his South Kolkata residence, as he was suffering from cancer. He was 69 years old. His daughter Swastika Mukherjee is also an actress. Santu Mukherjee was ill for several days.
He went to renowned director Tapan Sinha, seeking for a role in Bengali films. In 1975, Sinha launched him as an actor in the film Raja. Since his breakthrough, he has been actively working in theatres and films. His last film in Sanjhbati.
