BNP vice-chairman and former mayor of undivided Dhaka City Corporation Sadeque Hossain Khoka died of cancer while undergoing treatment at a hospital in New York, USA today.
He was 67. He is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son, reports BSS.
Khoka, who was suffering from kidney ailment and lung cancer for long, breathed his last at 1:50pm (BDT) today at a Manhattan hospital in New York, BNP chairperson’s media wing member Sairul Islam told reporters.
A former minister and lawmaker from Dhaka couple of times, a valiant freedom fighter Khoka, went to USA for cancer treatment in 2014.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed profound shock at the death of Khoka.
In a condolence message, he prayed for eternal peace of departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
