As uncertainty has gripped on Shakib Al Hasan’s participation in the upcoming Asia Cup raising eyebrows to many cricket-lovers, Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan Papon expected the injured Bangladesh skipper in Test and T20 to play in the Asia cup.
“Morale of Bangladesh team will face a disheartening thaw without Shakib. So, we have no option for Shakib. I think Shakib will come back and play in the Asia Cup,” he told journalists after attending a programme at Dhaka University (DU).
Department of Public Administration of DU organised the programme marking “Public Administration Day-2018” at Teacher-Student Center (TSC) on DU campus.
Papon said that Shakib Al Hasan, who had sustained finger injury during the tri-nation ODI series in January this year, will return from United States and join the national team soon.
The BCB boss also confirmed Mominul Haque’s inclusion in the Asia Cup.
Papon, an alumnus of the department, said that the students of this generation will take the country forward. “Our children are very talented. They love the country very much. So, Bangladesh will go ahead with their visionary leadership. None can stop them,” he said.
BCB Director Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan, Dean of Social Science Faculty Dr. Sadeka Halim, Public Administration Alumni Association President Abul Kalam, Chairman of the department Dr. Mobasser Monem, teachers and students, among others, were present on the occasion.
