Bangladesh women’s cricket team wins Women’s Asia Cup

Bangladesh women’s cricket team has created history today by beating 6-time Women’s Asia cup champion, India by 3 wickets. Bangladesh is the only team to win the Women’s Asia Cup other than India.

According to Indian Express, Bangladesh got off to a flying start with both the openers, Shamima Sultana and Ayasha Rahman scoring runs at a fast pace in the powerplay overs. The duo took their side to 35/0 in 6 overs at the end of the powerplay. Poonam Yadav dismissed both the openers packing in the next over and brought India back into the match. She later dismissed Farzana Hoque, taking her third wicket, leaving Bangladesh reeling at 55/3. But Nigar Sultana and Rumana Ahmed stuck around to build a partnership. Earlier, India scored 112/9 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first by Bangladesh.
