Praava Health held a rally on World Family Doctor Day on Saturday, 19 May at 10 am, starting from Praava Family Health Center in Banani, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The rally was attended by Praava Health’s Family Doctors and Family Health Professionals, allied health professionals including nurses and phlebotomists, senior management and members of the Praava Health team, university students, and people from the general community.
Family doctors are specialized in comprehensive healthcare for all ages. A Family Doctor can address 80-90% of medical issues a patient may face. In addition to diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease, Family Doctors also provide routine health checks, immunizations, and counseling on lifestyle changes in an effort to prevent illnesses before they develop.
Establishing an on-going care relationship with a Family Doctor means patients have a physician who knows them personally and is familiar with their and their families’ long-term health history and goals.
Praava Health is bringing back the Family Doctor and aims to be the first point of entry for patients into the health system. Praava also promises patients a minimum of 15 minutes of consultation time with Family Doctors.
“We believe that healthcare should be based on a personal relationship between you and your doctor, and Praava’s Family Doctors are here to listen to you and partner with you together to manage all your healthcare needs,” said Praava Health Founder and CEO Ms. Sylvana Sinha.
“80-90% of all healthcare needs can be addressed by a family doctor. Ideally, family doctors are a patient’s first point of entry into any health care system.”
“Praava Health is proud to recognize and congratulate all the Family Doctors on this day,” said Dr. Simeen Majid Akhtar, Senior Medical Director of Praava Health. “We are the only organization in Bangladesh that proudly announces a healthcare facility comprising of Family Health Professionals which includes Family Doctors.”
“Family Doctors are the best vehicle to deliver universal health care to the population of every country- developed or developing,” said Dr. Musharraf Hussain, Senior Family Doctor of Praava Health.
