Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by eight wickets in the first ODI of the tri-nation series on Monday at Sher-e- Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur.
Courtesy of an unbeaten 84, by opener Tamim Iqbal, the hosts romped home to a comfortable 8-wicket victory. Shakib-Al Hasan was the star with the ball as he picked up three wickets. Earlier, Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and decided to field first.
The decision proved correct as Shakib picked up two wickets in the first over itself. Since then Zimbabwe failed to put together any decent partnership and lost wickets at regular intervals.
They finally finished their innings for a mere 170. However, chasing small totals can be tricky but the Bangladesh batsmen did not allow any complacency to set in and chased down the total with more than 21 overs to spare.
