Hosts Bangladesh made a flying start in the Group-C match of the six-nation AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Qualifiers outplaying holders Iran by 3-0 goals at Bangabandhu National Stadium tonight, reports BSS.
After the barren first half, Bangladesh took the lead in the 63rd minute through Marzia. Midfielder Maria Manda’s right-footer from the top of the box was punched by Iranian goalie Maedeh. Midfielder Marzia placed the ball rebounder into the net from the top of the six-yard box (1-0).
Midfielder Moushumi Jahan doubled the lead in the 66th minute for the host. Following a square pass of Sanjida, Moushumi Jahan shot hit the upper far post net from the right corner of the box (2-0).
Substitute midfielder Tour headed a cross of substitute midfielder Monika over onrushing Iranian goalie Maedeh in the 86th minute to seal the fate of the match (3-0).
Bangladesh will meet Singapore in their 2nd match on Monday .
