Shishuder Jonno program of Save the Children in Bangladesh has been working in partnership with the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) to strengthen the government school monitoring system with an aim to have an improved transparent, accountable and efficient school inspection system. Against this backdrop, Save the Children has created an android enabled school monitoring application based and dashboard which can be accessed through DPE website.
Grameenphone, country’s largest mobile phone operator, joined hands with Save the Children to strengthen the initiative by providing tablets and connectivity for the pilot project. Initially GP provided connectivity for one year (March 2015 to March 2016) for the e-monitoring pilot program and in June they agreed to provide data connection free for another one year.
Mr. Nehal Ahmed, Senior Director, Communications & Member of Grammenphone Management Team on behalf of GP and M. Habibur Rahman, Senior Adviser, Education Sector Save the Children were present at the ceremony among others.
Another significant event was held on June 20 regarding the e-monitoring pilot program of Shishuder Jonno. The Senior Officials of Ministry of Primary and Mass Education (MoPME) and DPE arranged a session at the DPE office for sharing the current status of the pilot program. Mr. Mostafizur Rahman, Minister, MoPME, Mr. Humayun Khalid, Secretary MoPME and Md. Alamgir, Director Genral of DPE were present at the sharing meeting along with others. DPE proposed Save the Children to extend the pilot in 53 upazillas of 9 districts.
