Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has assumed responsibility for the care of a critically injured youngster who survived this morning’s devastating traffic accident in Sherpur, Bogura district, which claimed the lives of four members of the same family.
Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman confirmed today that the Prime Minister expressed profound shock and sympathy over the incident and assumed full responsibility to guarantee advanced treatment for the critically injured 1.5-year-old girl, who miraculously survived the tragic accident.
For more advanced care, he said, the infant was being moved to the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in the Agargaon neighborhood of the city.
Ruman said that the Prime Minister personally spoke with the Deputy Commissioner of Bogura and the director of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital and instructed them to ensure the highest level of treatment for the injured people.
Tarique Rahman also spoke with authorities at the Neurosciences Hospital in the capital and directed them to provide maximum care to the child.
The Prime Minister has also taken full responsibility for all kinds of treatment costs.
The accident occurred in the Sherpur area of Bogura when a microbus carrying 12 passengers was heading to Rangpur from Dhaka.
One person died on the spot. When the injured people were taken to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, duty doctors declared three more people, including the child’s parents, dead.
Bogura Deputy Commissioner said the bodies have been taken to Kaunia in Rangpur, where the victims will be laid to eternal rest.
The family along with relatives was traveling to their village home at Kaunia in Rangpur to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.
