Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today said there is no apprehension about holding the upcoming 13th national election in a free, fair, peaceful and credible manner, as the highest number of law enforcement personnel in the country’s history has been deployed.
“No apprehension is there, as the highest numbers of law enforcers have been deployed,” he said while responding to a question after attending a views exchange meeting with local administration officials, police, and other law enforcement agencies of disctrict.
For the first time in a national election, Bangladesh Army officers have been allowed to visit voting places to assist in upholding peace and order, according to the home adviser.
In reference to electoral violence, Chowdhury stated that there have been relatively less violent occurrences thus far than in any prior election at this point.
“We hope that the violence will not happen in the days to come and the situation will remain peaceful till the end,” he added.
In response to another query, he stated that the discussion covered plans for handling any impending violence that would affect the region’s election.
The Home Advisor was pleased with the election preparations in the Faridpur area, pointing out that nearly every polling place now has CCTV.
Drone monitoring would also be utilized to keep an eye on the situation, he added.
“With the combined efforts of law enforcement agencies, local administration and all concerned, the election in the Faridpur belt will be held in a free, fair, credible, peaceful and festive manner,” he said, seeking wholehearted cooperation from all to ensure a smooth electoral process.
