This morning marked the conclusion of the campaign by candidates running for the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) elections and referendum, which are set for February 12.
According to Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed of the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat, all forms of election campaigns are still forbidden after 7:30 a.m. today.
“We hope everyone will remain committed to performing the remaining election responsibilities properly after the end of campaigning,” he said.
Social media will not be used for any kind of election campaigning, the EC secretary added.
Today, 48 hours before the election, the election campaigns that started on January 22 came to an end.
No registered political party, party-nominated candidate, independent candidate, or person acting on their behalf may start campaigning for the election three weeks prior to the scheduled voting day, and all campaigning must conclude 48 hours prior to the start of voting, as stated in Section 18 of the EC’s Political Parties and Candidates Code of Conduct 2025.
Section 19 of the code stated that candidates must remove their campaign materials used in the electoral areas within 48 hours after completion of voting at their own responsibility.
Voting will be conducted simultaneously across 299 parliamentary constituencies nationwide from 7:30am to 4:30pm on February 12, through ballot papers using transparent ballot boxes.
