Clubfoot Awareness Session Held at RPTI, Cumilla

Frontline healthcare workers attended an awareness program on “Clubfoot: Early Detection and Referral” on Sunday at the Regional Population Training Institute (RPTI), NIPORT, Cumilla.

Twenty-five senior staff nurses from the districts of Cumilla and Feni participated in the session, which took place on January 26 at 4:00 PM. There were fifteen participants from Cumilla and ten from Feni. These healthcare workers play a vital role in the early identification and referral of children born with clubfoot.

The program featured a structured PowerPoint presentation, the screening of clubfoot-related TVC videos, and the distribution of informational leaflets and stickers.

The discussions emphasized the importance of early detection and timely referral, highlighting how proper intervention can significantly improve a child’s mobility and quality of life.

The session was made possible through the support and cooperation of Md. Riajul Haque, Principal of RPTI, Cumilla, along with the institute’s faculty members. During the interaction, the Principal encouraged future initiatives and expressed RPTI’s willingness to support wider dissemination of clubfoot awareness through its trainees.

Sumit Banik, the United Purpose (Clubfoot Program) Field Coordinator, led the program, with assistance from Orko Care Center in Cumilla. The event was planned as part of United Purpose Bangladesh’s “Walk for Life: Protecting and Supporting Children with Clubfoot to Overcome Physical and Social Challenges” project.

The organizers pointed out that raising awareness among medical professionals is essential to guaranteeing prompt treatment and a better future for kids with clubfoot.
