Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has reiterated his profound resolve to develop the Army as a trained, disciplined and professional force armed with modern weapons.
Speaking at the “Presidential Parade” commemorating the commissioning of the officer cadets of the Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) Long-Term Course and the 60th Special Course on the BMA Parade Ground at Bhatiari in Chattogram today, he made this request.
The Army Chief told the newly-commissioned officers that through taking the oath, they have been entrusted with the sacred responsibility of protecting Country’s Independence and sovereignty, said a release of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate this afternoon. Lastly, he conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to the commandants of the academy, all involved commanders, JCOs, NCOs, soldiers, civil officials, and staff for helping to make the occasion a success.
The primary visitor, General Wakar-Uz-Zaman, inspected the “march-pasts” in addition to receiving the salute of the delightful procession.
Later on, he also gave out awards to the deserving cadets.
After the hard military training, a total of 184 officer cadets of the 89th BMA Long Term Course and 20 officer cadets of the 60th BMA Special Course were commissioned during this spectacular parade.
Among the newly-commissioned army officers, 183 were male and 21 others were female, the ISPR noted.
The Army Chief handed out “Sword of Honour” Award and “Army Chief Gold Medal” to Company Senior under Officer Azmain Ishraq for his outstanding performances in the training course.
Subsequently, the new officers were decked with rank badges by their parents.
The commissioned cadets swore a solemn oath to defend the nation’s independence and sovereignty at the end of the event.
Earlier on the arrival at the parade field, the Army Chief was received by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Army Training and Doctrine Command, GOC 24 Infantry Division and Area Commander Chattogram Area and Commandant of Bangladesh Military Academy there.
The ISPR noted that this vibrant procession was observed by invited visitors, senior military and civic officials, parents and guardians of the officers, and members of the media.
