On Wednesday, 48 hours after Taliban authorities shut down telecommunications, mobile networks were restored in a number of Afghan regions, including the capital Kabul.
Signals were also available from a number of cell operators in the provinces of Kandahar, Khost, Ghazni, and Herat, according to AFP journalists.
On Monday night, when internet and mobile phone connectivity abruptly stopped working, confusion swept the nation.
Hospitals were forced to function without access to patient records, and the majority of businesses, including banks, post offices, and marketplaces, came to a complete stop.
The massive shutdown comes weeks after the government began shutting down high-speed internet connections to some provinces to prevent “immorality”, on the orders of the Taliban’s shadowy supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada.
