Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor, today emphasized the transformative potential of social business, asserting its capacity to revolutionize not only Bangladesh but the entire world. He declared social business as the definitive approach to guaranteeing universal healthcare, offering a viable solution to the sector’s pervasive challenges.

These remarks were delivered during the inauguration of the two-day Social Business Day at the Samajik Convention Centre in Zirabo, Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka. This year’s event centers around the theme: “Social Business is the Most Effective Way to Ensure Healthcare for All.

The 15th edition of Social Business Day has drawn over 1,400 participants from 38 countries. Dignitaries present at the opening session included advisors to the interim government, senior government officials, and diplomats stationed in Dhaka.

Jointly hosted by the Yunus Centre and Grameen Group, the event serves as a crucial global platform for sharing knowledge, experiences, and innovations. Its core objective is to devise strategies that tackle inequalities and limitations within healthcare and other sectors, ultimately fostering a more sustainable, just, and humane world.

The two-day program is structured to include five plenary sessions and eight breakout sessions, providing a diverse range of perspectives and ideas. A distinguished lineup of speakers is anticipated, including Professor Md. Saidur Rahman, Assistant to the Chief Advisor for Health & Family Welfare; Omar Ishrak, former CEO & Chairman of Medtronic and former Chairman of the Board, Intel Corporation; Dr. Ismail Serageldin, former Vice President of the World Bank; and Erik Solheim, former Executive Director of UN Environment and former Minister of Environment and Climate, Norway.
