Substantial progress made in UAE visa resumption for Bangladeshis

After years of diplomatic engagement, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made great strides toward resuming the issuance of visas for citizens of Bangladesh.

Lutfey Siddiqi, the Special Envoy of the Chief Adviser, was visited by UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdulla Ali ALHmoudi in his office here today (Sunday).

Siddiqi’s strong engagement with the UAE government in recent weeks, including more than half a dozen ministerial visits centered on topics ranging from investment cooperation to visa facilitation, was acknowledged by the ambassador at the meeting.

The Special Envoy was notified by Ambassador ALHmoudi that the UAE Embassy in Dhaka is now granting between 30 and 50 visit visas per day.

He added that quicker bulk visa processing for corporate delegations had improved economic and interpersonal interactions.

The UAE Ministry of Human Resources has revived its online system for skilled job visas, which is a significant achievement.

As a result, according to a news statement released today by the Chief Adviser’s news Wing, visas for professionals including marketing managers and hotel employees have been granted in recent weeks.

Additionally, 500 security guard visas have already been issued, and another 1,000 have been approved and will be issued soon.

Over time, it is anticipated that the UAE would gradually relax visa requirements even more.

Additionally, the ambassador promised to remain accommodating while taking into account circumstances that the Bangladeshi government have flagged as humanitarian and compassionate.

The developments were hailed by Special Envoy Siddiqi, who also praised Ambassador ALHmoudi for his cooperation and transparency.

Noting that the two parties have already reached an agreement on terms of reference, he also conveyed gratitude for the start of talks on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

A high-level UAE cabinet delegation is scheduled to visit Bangladesh later this month to further advance bilateral cooperation.
