The Bangladesh Army has set an example by constructing homes for flood victims while upholding standards and openness, according to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today. “Bangladesh Army constructed 300 houses for flood victims in a difficult condition under a special housing project in flood-hit Feni, Noakhali, Cumilla and Chattogram districts,” he said.
The chief adviser was virtually addressing the houses handover function in the four districts from his Office here.
The top adviser stated that even though the project was completed with half of the 50 crore money allotted for house construction, the quality of the houses and appropriate use of the allocation were guaranteed under the Bangladesh Army’s project.
Prof. Yunus thanked the army and local authorities for building the homes and expressed his hope that the Bangladesh Army will support the people of the nation in the event of another calamity.
He emphasized the consequences of the disastrous flood that struck the country’s southeast in August and September of last year, noting that many people lost their homes and that the people of the four districts were devastated.
The main adviser claimed that the government had a duty to support those harmed by the disaster, which is why it started a special housing construction project right away.
According to him, individuals who lost their homes due to the flood have already found a place to reside with their loved ones.
Professor Yunus asked the recipients to make sure their kids receive an education so they can grow up to be decent people and successful businesspeople.
A total of 300 houses were distributed among the flood victims in the four districts. On behalf of the chief adviser, the deputy commissioners of the four districts handed over the keys of houses among them. The beneficiaries in Feni received 110 homes in total, while those in Noakhali, Cumilla, and Chattogram received 90, 70, and 30 homes, respectively.
Among those who spoke at the CAO finale were Bir Protik, Faruk E. Azam, the Disaster Management and Relief Advisor, and General Waker-Uz-Zaman, the Chief of Army Staff. There were high-ranking military and civic officials.
