To repatriate trapped Bangladeshis from Libya, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has scheduled three special flights this month.
A flight is scheduled to depart from Misrata on March 12 and two further flights will depart from Tripoli on March 19 and 26, respectively, according to the Bangladeshi Embassy in Tripoli.
According to the embassy, IOM originally planned these three repatriation flights and is collaborating closely with the embassy to finish the requisite formalities, such as acquiring exit visas (Khurooj Nihai) and receiving the appropriate authorizations from Libyan authorities.
Through these flights, IOM hopes to make it easier for registered migrants from Tripoli and Misrata to return. The Bangladeshi Embassy in Tripoli is still working to repatriate Benghazi’s other registered migrants as well as others who have recently expressed interest in doing so quickly and safely.
The embassy informed everyone involved that it is doing everything within its power to guarantee the safe return of Bangladeshi migrants and that it is in close contact with the appropriate authorities.
