According to Adilur Rahman Khan, adviser for housing and public works, the government has begun the process of passing a road safety law by 2027.
“A road safety law will be enacted in Bangladesh by 2027, and the government has already started working on this issue,” he said.
According to a press release issued here today, Adilur, who is also the ministry of industries’ adviser, mentioned this on Wednesday night during the Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, which took place in Marrakesh, Morocco, from February 18–20.
Furthermore, Bangladesh has a National Road Safety Strategic Action Plan that seeks to cut the number of people killed in traffic accidents by half by 2030.
By 2026, Bangladesh would create a central database system based on information, according to the publication. It will gather, store, and examine data about traffic accidents.
Besides, a speed control management guideline will also be formulated by 2026, which will ensure the effective implementation of the Motor Vehicle Speed ??Limit Guidelines of 2024.
Moreover, a guideline will be developed by 2026 for the use of standard helmets, and its implementation.
