A Swiss Airlines flight had to make an emergency landing the night before because of smoke in the cockpit and cabin, and two crew members were still in the hospital on Tuesday, according to the airline.
Late on Monday, Swiss reported that an Airbus 220-300 carrying 74 passengers and five crew members was forced to land in Graz due to engine problems and smoke that had formed in the cockpit and cabin. The aircraft was traveling from Bucharest to Zurich.
“Two cabin crew members are currently still in hospital,” the airline said in a statement.
“One cabin crew member had to be flown by helicopter to a hospital in Graz yesterday and is in intensive care; his condition remains unclear,” it added.
According to Swiss, passengers who were admitted to the hospital are now free to go.
The airline, a division of Lufthansa of Germany, reported that it was helping passengers who were still in Graz and that it had flown 63 passengers to Zurich on Tuesday on a special flight.
Swiss did not disclose any further information, but stated that the incident’s cause was being looked into by the appropriate authorities.
