Today, Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus departed for Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, for a four-day state visit to attend the “Conference of Parties-29 (COP-29)” global climate summit.
“A flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the chief adviser and his entourage members departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11 am,” CA’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam told BSS.
Alam announced earlier on Sunday that the chief adviser would attend the climate meeting in Azerbaijan during a state visit from November 11 to 14.
During the visit, Prof. Yunus would be extremely busy, he noted.
According to the press secretary, Bangladesh, one of the nations most at risk from climate change, will discuss its needs and the dangers the country faces at the summit.
According to Alam, the chief adviser is expected to meet with dignitaries attending the climate meeting and speak at many COP-29 panels.
The Conference of the Parties (COP) is held annually with the Presidency rotating between the five recognised UN regions.
The COP-29 is being held in Baku, Azerbaijan, in November this year. Baku Stadium has been selected to host COP29 in Azerbaijan, which has a proven track record of organising international events.
