Bangladesh keen to work jointly with Nepal in power sector: Adviser Fouzul

Today, Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, the Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Adviser, expressed a strong desire to collaborate with Nepal in order to advance the country’s power sector expansion.

“Bangladesh is interested in collaborating with Nepal to develop the power sector.” When Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari paid a courtesy visit on him at his ministry’s conference room, he also stated that both countries could collaborate to enhance bilateral trade relations. This statement was reported in a press release.

During the meeting, various bilateral issues were addressed, including the purchase of 40 MW of hydropower from Nepal, the establishment of a 683 MW Sunkoshi-3 hydropower plant in partnership, and the signing of a Power Sale Agreement (PSA) for the importation of 500 MW of power from Nepal’s GMR Upper Karnali Hydropower Limited (GUKHL).

The adviser also stated that a discussion was conducted to enhance bilateral relations between Nepal and Bangladesh through the South Asia Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

The Nepalese Ambassador congratulated the adviser for accepting a new role and expressed solidarity with the people of Bangladesh, stating that Nepal had recognized the students’ movement from the outset.

The meeting was attended by a number of individuals, including Senior Secretary of Power Division Habibur Rahman and Secretary of Railways Ministry Abdul Baki.
