Despite Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Russian mercenary organization, reportedly being dead, Moscow has every intention of continuing the operations of his paramilitary Wagner force in Africa, analysts said AFP on Thursday.
Since 2014, Russia has outsourced tasks to Wagner in Africa.
Wagner fighters have been stationed alongside the national armies of Mali, the Central African Republic, and Libya on the security front.
The group has run destabilization and disinformation activities in the political sphere.
On the business front, it makes use of the mineral riches found in various African nations.
The Kremlin, according to analysts, has no interest in stopping these actions.
Assault gun in hand, Prigozhin claimed to be in Africa and working for Russia’s future in one of his final on-camera appearances, which was shown on Monday.
Since he led the brief uprising against the Kremlin in June, it was his first time being seen on camera.
Analysts were thinking about the consequences of the rebellion even before news of his death broke.
