Celine Dion, the pop queen, announced the release of new songs on Thursday, her first since admitting last year that she had a rare neurological illness that affected her vocals.
The new album “Love Again” serves as the soundtrack to the film of the same name, and it includes five new songs as well as previous successes.
It is the first album by the 55-year-old Canadian Dion since her 2019 release “Courage.”
“I had a lot of fun doing this movie. And to have the privilege of appearing with the beautiful and talented actors Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Sam Heughan in my very first feature film is a gift that I will cherish forever,” Dion said in a statement.
“I think it’s a wonderful feel-good story, and I hope that people will like it, and like the new songs too,” Dion said.
The romantic comedy directed by Jim Strouse will be released in theaters on May 5.
Dion announced on Instagram in December that she had been diagnosed with Stiff-Person Syndrome and would not be able to begin a European tour in February as scheduled.
The illness, she claimed, was causing muscle spasms and “not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to.”
The “Courage World Tour” began in 2019, and Dion had already finished 52 gigs before the Covid-19 epidemic halted the remaining.
Due to health issues, she later canceled the North American leg of the tour.
Her European spring dates, which were set to begin in the Czech Republic, have been pushed back to 2024, while eight of her summer gigs have been canceled outright.
The Grammy winner’s first global concert tour in a decade, and the first without her husband-manager Rene Angelil, who died of illness in 2016.
