Those involved in online companies have praised the commerce ministry’s digital commerce rules for introducing responsibility to selling products and services over the internet.
They did, however, emphasize the need to follow the instructions strictly.
During an online session on Tuesday, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi addressed media on different rules, spelling out the essential themes.
According to the minister, the Digital Commerce Management Guidelines were developed following consultation with several ministries, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders.
“It goes through everything from how to show product and service information in the marketplace to basic regulations, how to offer a sale of goods or services in the marketplace, how to deliver products, how to alter the price of advance payments, and so on. We hope that it will be beneficial to our consumers “Added he.
Chairman of the Bangladesh Protijogita Commission, Md Mofizul Islam, Director General of the Commerce Ministry’s WTO Cell, Md Hafizur Rahman, and Director General of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, Bablu Kumar Saha, were among those who spoke at the event, which Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh hosted.
According to Tapan Kumar Ghosh, “I learned about the growth of this industry through the news and social media. Customers were enticed by seemingly limitless offerings. Since joining this ministry a month ago, I’ve prioritized developing consumer and business-friendly e-commerce guidelines. This guideline, hopefully, will provide beneficial outcomes for both enterprises and customers.”
Syed Almas Kabir, president of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services, described the guideline’s creation as a watershed moment but warned that if it is not executed with the participation of law enforcement authorities, the recommendations will fail to yield fruit.
