PM for increasing Japanese investment in Bangladesh’s various sectors 

Today, Prime Minister Tariqur Rahmna demanded more Japanese investment in Bangladesh’s automotive, electronics, and agricultural industries.

Additionally, he indicated interest in exporting skilled Bangladeshi labor, particularly to Japan’s agriculture and health care industries.

When a high-level Japanese delegation, led by Agriculture Minister and Japan government Special Envoy Suzuki Norikazu, visited the Premier at his Sangsad Bhaban office today, he showed great interest.

The Prime Minister described Japan as a reliable friend of Bangladesh and stated that the two friendly nations seek to further their bilateral ties.

He also mentioned that one of the priorities of the current government is to create employment for the youth. 

The Japanese delegation positively received the Prime Minister’s proposals, said PM’s Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony.

During the meeting, Norikazu, on behalf of the Japan government, congratulated Prime Minister on assuming office as the head of the government and expressed the hope to take Bangladesh-Japan relations to new heights. 

The Japanese minister put emphasis on effectively advancing the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between the two countries.

Norikazu expressed interest in increasing Japanese food exports to Bangladesh and expanding cooperation in the agricultural and technology sectors.

During the meeting, the Japanese delegation stressed on quick and smooth completion of works of Matarbari Deep Sea Port, Metrorail Project, and the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport which are being implemented with Japanese cooperation. 

The Prime Minister assured continued cooperation in this regard.

Tarique Rahman stressed the Rohingyas’ safe return as the Japanese delegation declared that it will contribute 17.5 million US dollars to address the Rohingya situation.

Additionally, the Prime Minister expressed optimism for an official visit to Japan at a favorable moment, and the visiting delegation extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to visit Japan.

Planning and Finance The meeting was attended by Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Prime Minister’s Advisor for Politics and Agriculture Nazrul Islam Khan, Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Prime Minister’s Advisor for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir, and Japan’s Ambassador to Bangladesh SAIDA Shinichi.
