India envoy calls on Liberation War Affairs Minister 

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma today called on Liberation War Affairs Minister Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, at his office.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on various issues of mutual interest, including the Great Liberation War.

The minister shared his personal experiences of the Liberation War, highlighting his active participation and the challenging moments he faced during the war.

He noted that the unwavering support extended by the government and people of India during Bangladesh’s Liberation War in 1971 played a crucial role in achieving the country’s independence. 

He expressed his sincere gratitude to the government and people of India for their support.
The minister emphasized on the need to further strengthen the people-to-people connectivity between Bangladesh and India.

He stated that India is Bangladesh’s close neighbor and that Bangladesh is eager to build stronger, more complex bilateral ties based on respect, trust, and cooperation.

According to the Indian High Commissioner, mutual respect, trust, and a people-centric approach are among the cornerstones of India’s diplomacy.

He emphasized the significance of accurately educating the next generation about the Liberation War’s actual history.

Israt Chowdhury, the secretary of Liberation War Affairs, attended the conference.
