In keeping with the long-standing goodwill and respect that characterize their partnership, Bangladesh and the Maldives have expressed confidence that future cooperation will enhance bilateral relations and produce significant advantages for both countries.
According to a message received here, the reaffirmation occurred today in Male when Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan, the fifth President of the Republic of Maldives and Special Envoy of the Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, received a courtesy call from Bangladesh High Commissioner to the Maldives, Dr. Md. Nazmul Islam.
The two dignitaries discussed a variety of topics of shared interest, such as people-to-people connectedness, education, and culture.
In order to promote inclusive growth and improve mutual understanding, all sides agreed that collaboration in these areas needed to be strengthened.
Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan commended Bangladesh’s advancements in socioeconomic development and education, as well as the Bangladeshi expatriate community’s contributions to the Maldivian economy.
Dr. Waheed emphasized growing collaborations through dance, music, and the arts to foster greater cultural interchange between the peoples of the two nations, expressing a special interest in cultural cooperation.
Dr. Islam, the High Commissioner, emphasized Bangladesh’s outstanding accomplishments in human resource development, education, and economic growth.
He emphasized prospects for collaboration in higher education, including as engineering programs, medical internships, and scholarship programs for Maldivian students attending Bangladeshi universities.
