Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser for the environment, forests, and climate change, announced today that Aramco, Saudi Arabia’s national oil firm, has agreed to provide LNG to Bangladesh at a reduced cost.
“Currently Bangladesh imports LNG from two countries… Aramco has agreed to supply LNG to us at cheaper prices,” she told a press briefing here.
The press briefing was held at Foreign Service Academy this afternoon.
About the country’s law and order, Rizwana said there is no scope for “mob justice” or “moral policing” in the country, and the interim government remains strict to avoid such incidents.
“Our stance is very clear…there is no room for mob justice or moral policing in Bangladesh,” she said, adding that the government does not support any violence against women.
Regarding school entrance, the advisor stated that children of families of July Uprising martyrs and victims will receive some school admission benefits for a one-time use; this has nothing to do with quotas.
She noted that youngsters from roughly 1,200 families will have the opportunity once.
The press briefing was also attended by Assistant Press Secretary Suchismita Tithi, Deputy Press Secretaries Apurba Jahangir and Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, and Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.
