Farida Parveen returns home from hospital after 13 days

After 13 days in the hospital, renowned Lalon Sangeet singer Farida Parveen has fully healed and returned home. At home, she will be supervised by her doctor.

Ashish Kumar Chakraborty, the managing director of Universal Medical College Hospital, told Prothom Alo that the musician was discharged from the hospital on Friday night.

On February 1st, Farida Parveen was brought to the hospital due to a severe respiratory issue. In addition to fluid buildup in her lungs, she also suffered from diabetes, hypertension, and thyroid problems, among other age-related illnesses.

When her condition deteriorated, she was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital. After providing her treatment in the ICU for several days, she was shifted to regular cabin. Then she recovered completely after 13 days.

Asish Kumar Chakraborty said, “Initially, her physical condition was a bit worrisome. With the sincere efforts of the physicians, she recovered. At one point there arose the necessity of dialysis. But in the end she didn’t need it anymore.”

“She has completely recovered now. We have given her a guideline which she must strictly follow. Otherwise, some complications may reappear,” he added.

In 1968, Farida began performing Nazrul Sangeet as a Rajshahi Radio Center recognized artist. Around 1973, nevertheless, she rose to fame by performing patriotic songs. Moksed Ali Shah tutored Farida Parveen in Lalon Sangeet.

In 1987, Farida Parveen was awarded the Ekushey Padak in recognition of her exceptional contributions to the music industry. In addition, the Japanese government presented her with the “Fukuwaka Asian Culture Award” in 2008.

In 1993, she was also honored with the National Film Award for Best Playback Singer. In order to teach children Lalon Sangeet, she founded a singing school called “Ochin Pakhi School.”
