After suffering from several illnesses, renowned actor Prabir Mitra passed away tonight in the city’s Square Hospital. He was eighty-one.
According to family sources, legendary actor Prabir Mitra, also referred to as the “Nawab of the Silver Screen,” passed away around 10:10 p.m. today (Sunday) while receiving medical care at the hospital.
Due to an oxygen shortage, he was admitted to the hospital on December 22 after struggling with several health issues. His condition worsened in spite of medical care.
The renowned actor was born in Chandina, Cumilla, on August 18, 1943. He appeared in more than 400 films over his illustrious four-decade career.
In 1982, he won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in “Boro Bhalo Lok Chhilo”.
Later, in 2018, he received the National Film Awards’ Lifetime Achievement Award.
His two boys, one daughter, and other family members, coworkers, and well-wishers were left to grieve his passing.
