Mansur Ahmed Chowdhury made chairperson of TIB trustee board

Mansur Ahmed Chowdhury, a renowned human rights advocate and founder trustee of Impact Foundation Bangladesh, has been chosen to serve as chair of the trustee board of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB).

According to a news release issued here today, he would take over as chairperson in lieu of Advocate Sultana Kamal.

In addition, Tahera Yesmin, a specialist in gender equality, women’s empowerment, and good governance, and Barrister Manzur Hasan, the organization’s founding executive director, have joined the TIB trustee board.

TIB trustee board member Faruque Ahmed took the charges of the chairman of the audit committee. Retired Controller General, Defense Finance, Motahar Hossain has been appointed as another member of the audit committee, it added.

Mansur Ahmed Chowdhury, the recently elected chairperson of the trustee board, is the owner of the much-discussed floating hospital known as “Jiban-Tori.”

He has long advocated for the protection of the human rights of people with disabilities and the general enhancement of their quality of life. In addition, he was a prominent figure in the establishment of the ‘National Disability Forum’ and headed it.

He has been a member of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights’ Committee on Disability.
