Dr. Nikolay Yankov, the Bulgarian ambassador to Bangladesh, confirmed today that Visa Facilitating Services (VFS) has begun issuing visas in Dhaka.
According to a news statement from the foreign ministry, he made the comments while visiting foreign adviser Md. Touhid Hossain at the foreign ministry here.
In order to strengthen ties between Bangladesh and Bulgaria, the ambassador also suggested during the discussion that the two countries have their first round of bilateral consultations.
The foreign adviser asked for more enrolment and educational collaboration and commended Bulgaria for enabling Bangladeshi students to seek for visas at its embassies in Jakarta and Hanoi.
Additionally, they looked at ways to increase bilateral trade, investment, IT sector collaboration, cultural cooperation, and eligibility for the EU’s Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) beyond 2029.
Regarding the Rohingya crisis, the adviser asked Bulgaria to help Bangladesh in international fora, such as the UN and the EU.
