A day after the top court delayed the impending run-off, Romanian police conducted raids on homes on Saturday in connection with an investigation into purported irregularities in the victory of far-right outsider Calin Georgescu in the first round of the presidential election.
As part of the investigation “in connection with crimes of voter corruption, money laundering, computer forgery,” three homes in Brasov, central Romania, were being searched, according to a statement from the prosecutor’s office.
