In first-class cricket, Mominul Haque became the third player from Bangladesh to reach the 10,000-run club.
At Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua yesterday, he achieved this milestone when scoring 50 runs in Bangladesh’s opening innings against the West Indies.
The first cricketer from Bangladesh to join this club was Tushar Imran, who participated in just five Test matches and finished his career with 11,972 runs after 307 first-class games. The second person to attain the milestone was Naeem Islam. In 278 games, he has now amassed 10, 624 runs. Eight Test matches were among his 278 games.
Of the three, Mominul was the only one who regularly played Test cricket.
In his 152 first-class games, which included 68 Test matches, Mominul has amassed 10005 runs at an average of 39.50, with 45 half-centuries and 29 hundreds.
Mominul amassed 4401 runs at an average of 38 in 68 Test matches, including 13 hundreds and 20 half-centuries. Among Bangladeshi hitters, he has the most hundreds at thirteen.
